OnHand is a household food inventory, shopping, recipe, meal-planning, and AI-assisted organization app. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use OnHand.
Most of the information you enter into OnHand is stored locally on your device. This may include inventory items, quantities, locations, shopping-list entries, recipes, meal plans, purchase history, receipt details, and related notes.
When you choose to use an AI-powered feature, OnHand clearly discloses the applicable processing before you submit the content. Depending on the feature, user-selected photos, receipt photos, recipe photos, pasted recipe text, recipe URLs, or webpage text needed for recipe analysis may be sent through OnHand's service to OpenAI for AI processing. Receipt photos can contain personal details visible in the image, so you should cover information you do not want to share before submitting a receipt.
OnHand uses Supabase as part of the service infrastructure supporting these features and OpenAI to process applicable AI requests. Submitted content is used to provide the feature you requested. OnHand does not require you to create a traditional user account to use the app.
OnHand does not store submitted AI photos, recipe text, or AI results in an application-level remote content library. Service providers may process or retain information according to their applicable terms, security practices, and legal obligations.
OnHand uses a randomly generated, persistent installation identifier to manage complimentary AI usage, rewarded-ad AI credits, abuse prevention, and related service operations. This identifier is associated with the app installation and is not intended to directly identify you by name. Usage, reservation, and reward-related service records may be associated with this identifier.
OnHand may offer optional rewarded advertisements that you can choose to watch in exchange for an additional AI scan or similar in-app benefit. OnHand uses Google AdMob to provide these advertisements. Google may collect information as described in its own privacy practices, which can include device, advertising, diagnostic, and interaction information depending on your device, settings, region, and applicable consent requirements.
OnHand does not use forced interstitial advertisements or banner advertisements as part of its current launch model.
When you scan a barcode, OnHand may query third-party product databases, such as Open Food Facts, to retrieve product information. The barcode or product identifier may be sent to that service for lookup.
If you provide a recipe URL or other third-party content, OnHand may access that content as necessary to provide the feature you requested. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit or use content you provide to OnHand.
OnHand does not sell your personal information. Information may be shared with service providers only as needed to provide app functionality, process user-requested AI features, deliver optional rewarded ads, maintain security, prevent abuse, and operate supporting infrastructure.
Locally stored OnHand data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, uninstall the app, or otherwise remove the app's local data. Information processed by third-party service providers may be retained according to their applicable service terms, security practices, and legal obligations.
OnHand is a general-audience household utility and is not specifically directed to children.
You choose whether to use AI-powered features and whether to submit selected content for AI processing. You can also choose whether to watch rewarded advertisements. Certain privacy and advertising choices may also be available through your device settings and consent controls presented by applicable third-party services.
Reasonable technical measures are used to protect data handled by OnHand and its service infrastructure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
This Privacy Policy may be updated as OnHand changes. The date at the top of this page will be updated when material revisions are made.
